Lifestyle Habits for Those Concerned about Health and Beauty

“Fasting” is the English term for “断食” (danjiki), which means abstaining from food. Fasting has been practiced since ancient times as a religious ritual and a form of spiritual discipline. However, in recent years, it has gained attention in the Western world as a groundbreaking method for improving health, beauty, and anti-aging care. Scientific research on fasting has also become increasingly active.

One popular method of fasting that has attracted attention in recent years aims to give the tired digestive organs a rest and reset the body from within by abstaining from solid food for a certain period. This lifestyle habit of fasting is recommended not only for those concerned about their weight but also for those who care about their health and beauty.

The fasting method we recommend as a beauty and health practice is called “enzyme fasting.” It involves implementing fasting in a manageable manner while supplementing with enzyme drinks that provide the necessary minimum calories, minerals, and vitamins.

3 Steps 3 Steps of Enzyme Fasting

Before you start enzyme fasting for more than a few days, there are some things you need to know.
That is, there are three steps in fasting: the preparation period, the fasting period, and the refeeding period.

Step 01

Preparation period

The method of fasting that we recommend as a beauty and health practice involves implementing fasting in a manageable manner while supplementing with enzyme drinks to provide the necessary minimum calories, minerals, and vitamins. Fasting consists of three important steps: the “preparation period”, “fasting period” and “refeeding period”.

Key points in the preparation period

Key points in the preparation period 1 Let’s make an effort to embrace a primarily traditional Japanese diet (known as “ko・to・ma・go・wa・ya・sa・shi・i shoku”) as a foundation, while avoiding high-fat and high-protein ingredients, and practicing moderation in our eating habits.
Key points in the preparation period 2 Especially on the day before starting fasting, it is recommended to have an early dinner and go to bed early.
Key points in the preparation period 3 Be conscious of the order in which you eat and chew your food thoroughly. Start your meal with plant-based fermented foods such as raw vegetables, fruits, and nukazuke (vegetables fermented in rice bran). This way, the plant enzymes present in raw ingredients can help support the digestion of the subsequent foods you eat.
Key points in the preparation period 4 The habit of eating immediately before going to bed can lead to indigestion. Following the principles of the “Natural Hygiene” body rhythm, it is recommended to finish dinner by around 8 p.m.
Step 02

Fasting period

During the fasting period, you will engage in fasting while consuming enzyme drinks that provide vitamins and minerals for nutritional support. It is important to customize the fasting program based on individual lifestyle and condition, whether it’s a recommended one-day fasting program for beginners or a 14-day fasting program that many individuals have achieved success with.

To ensure that you achieve your goals effectively, it is crucial to consult with fasting experts and avoid attempting fasting on your own without guidance.

Key points in the fasting period

The average amount of fluids excreted by the body as urine and sweat in a day is about 2.5 liters. While you can replenish approximately 1 liter of fluids through meals, for the purpose of beauty, it is ideal to consume an additional 2 liters of water, preferably at room temperature, divided into at least 10 or more separate occasions throughout the day. If 2 liters seems challenging, start with 1 liter and gradually increase the amount you drink. It is recommended to choose high-quality water rather than tap water.

Bedtime is a time for “absorption and metabolism.” Even a slight increase in body temperature during sleep can boost immunity and metabolism. Therefore, it is beneficial to warm your body thoroughly from the core before bedtime through daily baths, half-body baths, foot baths, or other methods, to promote perspiration (excretion) during sleep.

During sleep, the body’s metabolism is active, so it is ideal to ensure 7 to 8 hours of sleep, including the “absorption and metabolism” time from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m., as part of your daily sleep routine.

Key points in the fasting period 1 Refrain from drinking alcohol.
Key points in the fasting period 2 If you are hungry and have a hard time, drink water to relieve hunger.
Key points in the fasting period 3 Warm your body from the core with a bath, half-body bath, foot bath, etc., and promote sweating (discharge) while sleeping.
Key points in the fasting period 4 During sleep, your metabolism becomes active, so try to go to bed early.
Step 03

Refeeding period

During the fasting period, a crucial phase to be mindful of is the “reintroduction period.”

Even if you didn’t experience hunger during the fasting period and were able to continue without issues, some people may feel anxious or rushed to return to their regular meals immediately after fasting. However, if you abruptly go back to your normal diet after giving your stomach and intestines a break, it can lead to discomfort, easily trigger a rebound effect, and ultimately result in the “failure” of your fasting efforts. It is important to gradually reintroduce food to your stomach to avoid these adverse effects.

Key points in the refeeding period

The first meal of the recovery period just after fasting is “Juyu”.
For the second meal, take porridge and miso soup slowly without ingredients. In addition, if you fasted for more than 3 days, a recovery period of 2-3 days is required. From the second day of the recovery season, side dishes and porridge with vegetables, legumes, mushrooms, etc. are recommended. You can also take homemade fresh juices and smoothies as meals or snacks during the recovery period.

Key points in the refeeding period 1 Refrain from suddenly returning to your usual meals.
Key points in the refeeding period 2 Please take porridge and miso soup without ingredients slowly.
Key points in the refeeding period 3 Let’s get used to fresh juices, smoothies, and other things that are less burdensome.

Necessities What you need for enzyme fasting

No additives are used.
“Strict criteria” that lead to successful enzyme fasting.

The necessary items for Estepro Lab’s enzyme fasting include the enzyme drink “Herbzyme 113 Grand Pro,” which serves as a nutritional supplement during fasting, and the high-quality water “Fast Pro Water” for frequent hydration during fasting. Additionally, preparatory meals to gradually adapt the body before entering the fasting period and “Fast Pro Meal” to be consumed after fasting are also required.

The quality of the enzyme drink is crucial when undertaking enzyme fasting since the goal is to allow the digestive organs to rest and rely solely on the enzyme drink. Estepro Lab’s enzyme drink is made using a luxurious blend of all 113 varieties of “pure domestically grown plants” that prioritize freshness and origin. It undergoes natural fermentation through the symbiotic action of naturally occurring yeast and plant-based lactic acid bacteria that have resided in Hinoki barrels for many years. The enzyme drink is produced following “strict criteria” without the use of scientifically synthesized additives.

It is important to measure daily changes accurately. It is crucial to measure and track the changes before and after fasting to effectively connect them and utilize the results.

Body Weight Scale (with body fat measurement)

To achieve the target body fat percentage, it is essential to thoroughly manage meals and carefully plan the fasting schedule. This is the key to success.

Precautions for enzyme fasting

Even for individuals in good health, there may be cases where fasting is not suitable due to their constitution or current physical condition. Please make sure to assess your health before proceeding.
Additionally, during menstruation, hormonal imbalances can occur and lead to unexpected reactions, so fasting is not recommended.

If you have any concerns, please consult with a doctor before proceeding.

If you have food allergies, please consult with a doctor beforehand.

Fasting should be undertaken responsibly and without pushing yourself beyond your limits.

If you feel unwell during the fasting period, please discontinue immediately.

During fasting, it is recommended to consume approximately 1 to 2 liters of high-quality water, divided into frequent intake of at least 10 times per day.

Those who are not suitable for enzyme fasting

  • Those who have a pre-existing medical condition and are taking medication
  • Those who have a cold, are undergoing treatment for illness, or feel unwell
  • Those who have internal organs such as heart and stomach disorders
  • Those who have had a stroke, cerebral infarction, or myocardial infarction in the past
